Link Verbs

A few verbs like KOM, GAAN and LOOP, are used to indicate movement. These verbs are placed before the main verb and usually they are not used in plain present tense.

For example:

  • "Jy moet kom speel." (to come play).
  • "Jy moet gaan speel." (go play).
  • "Moenie my pla nie, loop speel". (go play)
  • "Nee, sy werk is nie klaar nie, hy het loop slaap." (went to bed)

Note: LOOP and GAAN are quite similar.
