Note:
The normal word order in Afrikaans is verb second.
E.g. [The laborers]1 [PICK]2 [the fruit]3 in the orchard.
The clause after the verb-first conjunction would be the verb, and then the subject and object.
If the clause contains "Kerry SIT op die stoel" the following would happen:
PRESENT: Ek staan en daarom ... SIT Kerry op die stoel.
FUTURE: Ek staan en daarom ... SAL Kerry op die stoel SIT.
PAST: Ek staan en daarom ... HET Kerry op die stoel GESIT.
If you add modals (KAN, WIL, MAG, MOET) ...
PRESENT: Ek staan en daarom ... WIL Kerry op die stoel SIT.
FUTURE: Ek staan en daarom ... SAL Kerry op die stoel WIL SIT.
PAST: Ek staan en daarom ... WOU Kerry op die stoel SIT.
