Verb Types

Maybe an easy way to look at the verbs in Afrikaans is as follows:

a) We have Hê and WEES (the two conjugated verbs)

b) Then we have the following verbs that mostly behave the same: regular verbs, prefixed verbs, and inseparable compound verbs.

c) Then we have separable compound verbs, where for the present tense, the verb splits in two parts - an active and a descriptive part.

d) The last verb type is called the reflexive verbs because they point back to the doer of the action, yet these verbs could be regular, prefixed or compounds (separable or inseparable).
