Namibian Food

Namibian cuisine differs by population group and the urban population and the rural populations also differ somewhat in what they eat. Regions also differ somewhat.

Rural populations often harvest their own food, and eat insects, like the Mopane worm -- a dark worm, like a big juicy caterpillar. Yet, it tastes like barbeque. I have eaten them myself and I did so with some trepidation. I expected it to taste like green slime, yet it was way firmer and more meaty - what a surprise.

Here is a food reference from the Namibian Government.
