Note:
The normal word order in Afrikaans is verb second.
E.g. The laborers PICK the fruit in the orchard.
The clause after the verb-last conjunction would be the subject, and then the object and then lastly the verb.
If the clause contains "Kerry SIT op die stoel" the following would happen:
PRESENT: Ek staan omdat ... Kerry op die stoel SIT.
FUTURE: Ek staan omdat ... Kerry op die stoel GAAN SIT. / or SAL SIT.
PAST: Ek staan omdat ... Kerry op die stoel GESIT HET.
If you add modals (KAN, WIL, MAG, MOET) ...
PRESENT: Ek staan omdat ... Kerry op die stoel WIL SIT.
FUTURE: Ek staan omdat ... Kerry op die stoel GAAN WIL SIT. / or SAL WIL SIT.
PAST: Ek staan omdat ... Kerry op die stoel WOU SIT.
If you have helping verbs going to the end, remember, the past tense HET goes past the verb, the rest do not.
...dat hy die boek gelees HET.
... dat hy die boek SAL lees.
... sal kan lees.
