Cinderella could hardly believe her eyes

Happily watching Cinderella’s smiling face, the fairy said, “But you should remember! Magic does not last long. You should come back before 12 o’clock.”

Meanwhile, a prince was bored in the party because he could not find any beautiful girls he is going to like.

At the moment Cinderella appeared in the party, however, he realized that he was going to fall in love with her. So Cinderella did.

So the prince and his ministers visited every house and tried the slipper on the foot of every girl in the country until only Cinderella’ house was left.

One of the ministers said, “Every girl in this country can just try.”

Once upon a time there lived an unhappy young girl.
옛날 옛날에 불행한 한 어린 소녀가 살고 있었어요
Her mother was dead and her father had married a widow with two daughters.
어머니는 돌아가시고 아버지는 두 명의 딸이 있는 과부와 결혼했어요.
Unfortunately, her stepmother didn't like her.
불행하게도 그녀의 새어머니는 그녀를 좋아하지 않았어요.
She bought all good things for only her own daughters but nothing for the unhappy girl.
그녀는 모든 좋은 것들을 오직 그녀의 딸 들에게만 사주고 그 불행한 소녀에게는 아무것도사주지 않았어요.
Moreover, the girl had to do all housework all day.
게다가 그 소녀는 모든 집안일을 하루 종일 해야만 했어요.
Only when evening came was she allowed to sit for a while by the fire, near the cinders. That’s why everybody called her Cinderella.
오직 저녁이 되어서야 그 소녀는 불 곁, 재더미 근처에 잠시 앉을 수 있었어요. 그래서 모두가 그녀를 재투성이 소녀(신데렐라)라고 불렀어요.
Even dressed in old rags, Cinderella was a lovely girl
비록 낡은 누더기를 입었지만 신데렐라는 사랑스러운 소녀였어요.
However, her stepsisters were fat and ugly even dressed splendid and expensive clothes.
그러나 그녀의 의붓 언니들은 비록 훌륭하고 비싼 옷을 입었지만 뚱뚱하고 못생겼었어요.
One day, a king and queen announced all over the country that a party was to be held at the palace in order to find a prince’s future wife.
어느 날, 왕과 왕비는 왕자의 신부를 찾기 위한 파티가 열릴 것이라고 온 나라에 알렸어요.
Cinderella’s stepmother bought expensive dresses, jewels and cosmetics in order to make her own daughters up all pretty but even did not allow Cinderella to go to the party.
신데렐라의 새 어머니는 그녀의 딸들을 예쁘게 꾸미기 위해 값 비싼 드레스, 보석, 그리고 화장품을 샀지만 심지어 신데렐라에게는 파티에 가는 것조차 허락하지 않았어요.
And she said, “Cinderella, you can’t go to the party because you will be so busy. You should wash the dishes and scrub the floors while your sisters are in the party.”
그리고 그녀는 말했어요, “신데렐라, 너는 너무 바빠서 파티에 갈 수 없단다. 언니들이 파티에 가 있는 동안 너는 설거지하고, 바닥을 닦아야 해.”
Cinderella could not stop crying and sighed, “Oh dear, I’m so unhappy.”
신데렐라는 울음을 멈출 수 가 없었어요 그리고 자신의 신세를 한탄했어요, “오 나는 정말 불행해.”
At that time, something amazing happened.
그 때 놀라운 일이 일어났어요.
A fairy appeared with a burst of light and said, “Cinderella, I know you did a lot of good things so I’d like to give a prize for you. I know you would love to go to the party and so you shall!”
한바탕 빛과 함께 요정이 나타나 말했어요, “신레렐라야 나는 네가 많은 착한 일을 했다는 것을 알고 있단다 그래서 너에게 상을 주고 싶구나. 나는 네가 파티에 가고 싶다는 것을 알고 있어 그리고 너는 가게 될거야.”
“How can I, dressed in rags?” Cinderella replied.
“어떻게요? 누더기를 입고요?” 신데렐라는 대답했어요.
The fairy smiled and waved her magic wand.
요정은 웃으며 그녀의 마술 지팡이를 휘둘렀어요.
Then, Cinderella found herself wearing the most beautiful dress in the world.
그러자 신데렐라는 세상에서 가장 아름다운 드레스를 입고 있는 자신을 발견했어요.
The fairy waved her magic wand again and then a pumpkin turned into a sparkling coach, the mice which lived in Cinderella’s room did white horses, and a cat became a coachman.
요정이 다시 마술 지팡이를 휘두르자 호박은 마차로 신레렐라의 방에 살던 쥐들은 하인으로 변했고 고양이는 마부가 되었어요.
Cinderella could hardly believe her eyes
신데렐라는 그녀의 눈을 믿을 수가 없었어요.
Happily watching Cinderella’s smiling face, the fairy said, “But you should remember! Magic does not last long. You should come back before 12 o’clock.”
신데렐라의 웃는 얼굴을 행복하게 바라보며 요정은 말했어요, “그러나 너는 기억해야해! 마법은 오래 가지 않는단다. 너는 12시가 되기 전에 반드시 돌아와야만 해.”
Meanwhile, a prince was bored in the party because he could not find any beautiful girls he is going to like.
한편, 왕자는 그가 좋아할만한 어떤 예쁜 소녀도 찾을 수 없었기 때문에 파티가 너무 지루했어요.
At the moment Cinderella appeared in the party, however, he realized that he was going to fall in love with her. So Cinderella did.
그러나 신데렐라가 파티에 나타난 그 순간, 그는 그가 그녀와 사랑에 빠질 거란 걸 깨달았어요. 신데렐라 역시 그랬어요.
Cinderella had a wonderful time at the party until she heard the first stroke of midnight!
신데렐라는 파티에서 아주 멋진 시간 보냈어요. 12시를 알리는 첫번째 종을 듣기 전까지는요.
She remembered what the fairy had said, and without a word of goodbye she slipped from the Prince.
그녀는 요정이 했던 말을 기억하고 인사도 없이 왕자로부터 도망쳤어요.
As she ran she lost one of her slippers, but not for a moment did she dream of stopping to pick it up!
도망 가는 중 그녀는 신발 한 짝을 잃어버렸지만, 그 순간 그녀는 멈춰 그것을 주울 생각조차 하지 못했어요.
Finally, she vanished into the dark.
마침내 그녀는 어둠 속으로 사라져 버렸어요.
The Prince, who was now madly in love with her, picked up the slipper and said to his ministers, “Go and search everywhere for the girl whose foot this slipper fits. I will never be happy until I find her!”
그녀에게 푹 빠진 왕자는 신발을 주워들고 그의 신하들에게 말했어요, “가서 이 신발이 맞는 소녀를 찾아오세요. 그녀를 찾을 때까지 저는 결코 행복해질수 없어요.”
So the prince and his ministers visited every house and tried the slipper on the foot of every girl in the country until only Cinderella’ house was left.
그래서 왕자와 그의 신하들은 그 나라의 모든 집을 방문하여 모든 소녀들에게 그 신발을 신겨보았어요 오직 신데렐라의 집만 남겨놓았지요.
At last they came to Cinderella’s house.
마침내 그들은 신데렐라의 집에 도착했어요.
First ugly sister tried to squash her foot into the slipper but her foot was too wide and fat.
첫 번째 못 생긴 언니가 그녀의 발을 그 신발에 억지로 밀어 넣었지만 그녀의 발은 너무 넓고 뚱뚱했지요.
Then the second ugly sister tried but her foot was too long and thin.
그리고 나서 두 번째 못생긴 언니가 시도 했지만 그녀의 발은 너무도 길고 가늘었어요.
Finally, it was Cinderella’s turn to try but the step mother said “the slipper won’t fit her and even she did not go to the party!”
마침내 신데렐라의 차례가 되었지만 새 어머니는 “그 신발은 걔한테 맞지 않을 꺼에요. 심지어 걔는 그 파티에도 가지 않았다고요!”하고 말했어요.
One of the ministers said, “Every girl in this country can just try.”
신하 중 한 명이 말했어요, “이 나라의 모든 소녀는 시도해 볼 수 있습니다.”
Cinderella slipped her foot into the slipper and it fit perfectly.
신데렐라는 그 신발 안으로 그녀의 발을 밀어 넣었고 완벽하게 맞았어요.
At the moment, the fairy appeared again and gave Cinderella a matching pair of the slippers.
그 순간 요정은 다시 나타나서 신데렐라에게 나머지 신발 한 짝을 주었어요.
When Cinderella slipped her other foot into the slipper, she turned back into the girl in the party.
신데렐라가 나머지 한 쪽 신발을 신자 파티의 그 소녀로 변했어요.
The step mother and two sisters were so surprised that they couldn’t say anything.
새 어머니와 언니들은 너무도 놀라서 아무 말도 할 수 없었어요.
But the Prince exactly knew what to say. He said to Cinderella, “Will you marry me?”
그러나 왕자는 무슨 말을 해야 할 지 정확히 알았어요. 그는 신데렐라에게 말했어요, “나와 결혼해 주시겠소.”
A few months later, Cinderella married the prince and lived happily ever.
