A1 - Active Voice

Objectives

Exercise

Do all sentences in English, with Afrikaans grammar terms. First, only focus on
(B1) Regular Verbs, to do Steps 1, 2, and 3.    Then repeat the process with
(B2) Separable Verbs to do Steps 1, 2, and 3. Then repeat the process with
(B3) TO BE Verbs to do Steps 1, 2, and 3.       Then repeat the process with
(B4) TO HAVE Verbs, doing Steps 1, 2, and 3.

Step 1:

B1 Do ACTIVE sentences in the 
C1 - Present,
C2 - Future,
C3 - Past Tense.

Step 2: Building on the base of Step 1

In C1, C2, or C3 do,
D1 - Negation in all tenses
D2 - Questions in all tenses
D3 - Negative Questions in all tenses,
D4 - Modals in all tenses.

Step 3: Based on Steps 1 and 2

In C1, C2, or C3 do,D5 - Sentences with modals as a negationD6 - Sentences with modals as a questionD7 - Sentences with modals as a negative question.

B1 - Regular Verbs

  1. Ben edit* the book.
  2. Sue freeze the meat.
  3. My parents travel to Africa.
  4. The woodpecker poke a hole in the tree.
  5. The rugby team exercise all morning.
  6. The city council vote on the bill.

* In Afrikaans there is no conjugation of regular verbs, so you use the verb without the S ending for he, she, and it.

B2 - Separable Verbs

  1. My friends set the computer up.
  2. The cleaners throw the trash out.
  3. The little boy throw* the lens cap away.
  4. The new team put up fierce resistance.
  5. The switchboard lady put my call through.

Note: Ignore S ending in third person singular since Afrikaans does not conjugate the verb.

B3 - TO BE Verbs

  1. Sam is in the car.
  2. Kerry is very ill.
  3. Kazan is guilty of the crime.
  4. Allie is the singer on stage.
  5. The passengers is* tired.

Note: * no am or are in Afrikaans, only is.

B4 - TO HAVE Verbs

  1. The consultant has time for you.
  2. He only has a few pennies in his pocket.
  3. The doctor has the medicine in the bag.
  4. The leader has a vision for the company.
  5. We has* a tent in the car.

Note: No conjucation.
